Trans – Atlantic symposium on ICT Technology and Policy

19th – 20th June 2017, Minneapolis (US)

The “Trans-Atlantic Symposium on ICT Technology and Policy – 5G Networks, Big Data, Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems for a Smart Society”, organised by the European Commission-funded PICASSO project, hosted by the Technological Leadership Institute, University of Minnesota, and co-sponsored by additional EU and US organisations, will cover the spectrum from research assessments via commercialisation opportunities to policy issues in information and communication technologies (ICT) such as 5G networks, Big Data, and the Internet of Things (IoT)/cyber-physical systems (CPS).

In addition to PICASSO, session organisers include BILAT USA 4.0, Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, and Clean Energy Economy Minnesota.

Comprising a combination of plenary and parallel sessions, the symposium will set focus on impacts for a smart society and related industry sectors.

The event will also present “opportunity reports”, including prioritisation of R&D and application needs, and recommended areas for EU-US collaboration, that have recently been prepared by the PICASSO Expert Groups in IoT/CPS, 5G networks, Big Data and Policy.

2nd SEREN3 Training for stakeholders on PCP/PPI in Secure Societies

We would like to kindly invite you to the 2nd SEREN3 Training for stakeholders on PCP/PPI in Secure Societies. It will be organized on the 30th of May 2017 in Warsaw. The main objective of the training is to raise the awareness about PCP - PPI instruments in Secure Societies calls under Horizon 2020.

The main topics which will be addressed during the training are following:

  • introduction to innovation procurement - state of play around Europe;
  • funding opportunities in Horizon 2020 focus on Secure Societies Calls;
  • about the EAFIP initiative;
  • the economics of innovation procurement;
  • innovation procurement – main steps and pre-requisites;
  • innovation procurement – the complementarity between PCP and PPI. Innovation partnerships;
  • policy rationale & Value Engineering;
  • innovation procurement in the Security sector – case examples and lessons learned.
